OLD
TOWN (STARE MIASTO)
This is the most attractive region of Warsaw in which,
there are most of monuments. The Old Town, rebuilt after
the World War II has appeared in a register of World
Cultural and Natural Heritage UNESCO. One can find there
beautiful Gothic churches, Renaissance tenement houses
which bewitch by their appearance romantic lanes that
lead to Vistula and stylish cafes. Almost every building
of the Old Town is characteristic because of its architecture.
The heart of The old Town is The Old Town Square. It
is worth seeing the old ramparts with the Barbican,
like also St. John's Cathedral. In the Eastern part
of the Old Town there is a Castle Square with the Royal
Castle.

ROYAL CASTLE (ZAMEK KROLEWSKI)

Baroque, resembling palace, the Royal Castle was built
in XIV c. It was then a residence of Polish kings. Its
present appearance appreciates Italian architects. Currently,
in the castle there is a museum where worth watching
are rooms and apartments of Polish kings. In the museum
one can also see a beautiful Gobelin tapestry, stylish
furniture and collections of porcelain and paintings.

KING SIGISMUND'S COLUMN
(KOLUMNA ZYGMUNTA)
Plac Zamkowy
On Zamkowy Square one may admire a monument, one of
the symbols of the city - King Sigismund III Column,
which commemorates the king who moved the capital from
Cracow to Warsaw. This 22 m high column was made of
bronze in 1664. During the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 the
monument fell down however it was not destroyed.

ST. JOHN'S CATHEDRAL (KATEDRA
SW. JANA)
Kanonia 6
This cathedral was built in the beginning of XV c.
and it is the oldest church in Warsaw. Here the kings
of Poland were crowned and the Polish constitution was
taken an oath. In the crypt was buried the last Polish
king Stanisław August Poniatowski, like also many other
famous Poles. After the World War II the cathedral was
rebuilt in a Gothic style.

ŁAZIENKI PARK

Łazienki is one of the most beautiful park complexes
with palaces in Europe that size is about 70 hectares.
Its romantic and wonderful places attract plenty of
people from Warsaw like also tourists. In the park particularly
worth watching are: Palace of the Water with a classical
architecture, which was one of the former royal residence,
Chopin Monument that comes from 1926 at which at summer
time, Chopin concerts are performed, another worth seeing
thing is amphitheatre, inspired by the classical theatre
"Herculanum" and Belweder Palace.
