The
death camp in Sobibor was built in 1942 and existed
since 14 October 1943. The Nazis killed there 250 000
Jews from Poland, Germany, Czech, Austria and the Netherlands.
Nowadays in Sobibor there is a museum which presents
a small exhibition showing the history of the camp.
On the terrain of the past camp there is also a memorial
complex, which includes plaques in 6 languages: Polish,
Jidisz, Hebrew, Dutch, English and German, the statue
in the very place where there was the gas chamber and
the mound with remains of murdered people.
