GREENHOUSE (PALMIARNIA)

The Greenhouse in Poznan is one of the biggest in Europe.
The first building was built in 1910 and since that
time was many a time reconstructed. There are 10 pavilions
with about 17000 of different plants.

MALTA
On the right bank of Warta River, there has been built
one of the most beautiful parks of the city with Malta
lake an which regattas competitions take place. Next
to the park it is worth seeing Knights of Sword Church
from XII. Every year on Malta takes place Malta International
Theatre Festival.

ADAM MICKIEWICZ SQUARE
Adam Mickiewicz Square was founded in XX c., after
the destruction of Prussia's fortifications. On this
square there is situated Collegium Minus, a Renaissance
building from 1910 and Kaiserhaus, Prussia castle built
at reign of Wilhelm II. Presently, at the castle there
is a theatre, cinema and museum.

PIASTOWSKI ROUTE (SZLAK
PIASTOWSKI)
In Poznan, Piastowski's route is connected with the
beginning of Polish nationality. The route connects
Poznan and Kruszwica. The first place found on the route
is Ostrów Lednicki with Lednickie Lake. Ostrów was one
of the main places of settlement of the first Slavs.
Currently there is an archeological reserve - The First
Piasts Museum. Another place on this route is Gniezno,
a city founded on seven hills, surrounded by tree lakes.
Since VIII c. there was a fortified castle and a capital
of the first Slavs. In the city, there is a cathedral
in which the first king of Poland, Boleslaw Chrobry
had his coronation. This cathedral was built in 970
however the present building with three naves 1350-1595
with huge baroque towers. The cathedral is surrounded
by 14 chapels built between XV and XVII c. At the basement
there are ashes of St. Adalbert and other bishops. One
of the most important and precious monuments is a pair
of Romanesque doors that comes from 1175, undoubtedly
one of the most significant monuments of Romanesque
art in Europe. Near to cathedral worth seeing are St.
Jerzy Church from XII/XII c. Franciscan Church built
in XIII c. and the Gothic Church of Jan Chrzciciel which
is on the Knight of the Cross Hill. The last place of
sightseeing should be Biskupin. This is a place in which,
in 2700 B.C. a city was found. The settlement on Biskupin
is reconstructed and worth seeing.
