OLD TOWN SQUARE (STARY RYNEK)
The Old Town Square was a center of located here in
1253 and developing Poznan. Although this Square is
smaller than this is Krakow it attracts with wonderful
tenements' facades like also palaces, monument of Persephone
and baroque figure of Jan Niepomucen. In the middle
of the Square stands a Renaissance town hall and close
to it there is a whipping post from 1535.

TOWN HALL (RATUSZ)

The Town Hall is a pearl in Poznan's architecture.
The Town Hall was built in XIII century and then was
reshaped into a Renaissance style by an Italian architect
J. B. Quadro. In the Town Hall there is a Museum of
the city's history in which one can see collections
from X c. Worth watching are rooms of the Town Hall
and among them the Renaissance Hall with exquisite decorated
ceiling supported by two pillars. On the top of the
town hall every day, two metal goats (symbol of Poznan)
butt each other twelve times.

OSTROW TUMSKI
Ostrow Tumski is as isle on Warta River. This is the
place where first Poles set up their settlements. Just
here in IX c. was found the first castle and here was
the first capital of arising country and here the first
cathedral was built. Currently the main attraction of
the isle is the cathedral that comes from X c., originally
of the Gothic style and appearance was destroyed many
times, however now is architecture goes back to XIV/XV
c. In the cathedral there are many chapels with ashes
of Polish kings. The most famous is the Golden Chapel
in which one can find sarcophaguses of first rules of
Poland, like Mieszko I, or Bolesław Chrobry. Equally
well-known is The "Holy Sacrament Chapel"
with a marvelous Renaissance gravestone. In the basement
there are relicts of the temple from X c. On the isle
there is also Lubrański's Academy, a first academy in
Poznan built in 1518. Next to this academy is Archdiocesan
Museum in which are composed precious collections concerning
the history of the isle.

PARISH CHURCH (KOSCIOL FARNY)
The Parish Church is one of the most precious attractions
in Poznan. Built in 1649, originally as the Jesuits'
monastery. Its present appearance of beautiful baroque
building with decorative facades and delightful interiors
owes to Italian architects.

ST. ADALBERT'S HILL (WZGORZE
SW. WOJCIECHA)
On the West from The Old Square there is St. Adalbert's
Hill, which is worth visiting because of historic churches
which are built there in XV c. This Church of St. Adalber
is a Gothic temple inside which there is an interesting
altar, catacombs with ashes of people from the province
in western Poland and also a crucifix from XVI c. Nearby
there is a baroque Carmelites' Church from XVII c.
