To drive in Poland there is a necessity to have an International Driver's Licence. As in the rest of continental Europe, in Poland the traffic is on the right hand side. Emergency road service isn't at western levels but rapidly improved. For road service dial the 9633 number (with a city code) or 112 number, from mobile phones. Lights must be used all day and night from October to March. Children under 10 years are prohibited from riding at the front seats and they must have special children seats. Seat belts are compulsory both at the front and back seats. Driving under the influence of alcohol is prohibited and penalties include cash fines, probation or even imprisonment. Drunk drivers involved in accidents can be imprisonment even for twelve years. There is prohibition of using mobile phones during driving.
