MAIN TOWN (GŁOWNE MIASTO)
The Main Town is one of three old districts of Gdansk,
close to the Old Town and the Old Suburb. The most precious
monuments of the Main Town are situated along the Royal
Way which is Dluga Street and Dlugi Targ.
ROYAL WAY (DROGA KRÓLEWSKA)
The Gdansk's Royal Way (Dluga Street and Dlugi Targ)
is relatively short (500m) but its name exactly present
the climate and architectural and antique surfeit with
which one could hand out it to many other cities. The
picturesque but short Dluga Street charms with its wonderful
tenements from XV - XIX c. The extension of Dluga Street
is Dlugi Targ on which stands the symbol of the city
- the monument of Neptun. Dlugi Targ is as attractive
with plenty of antique tenements a way of the old Gdansk.
GOLDEN GATE (ZLOTA BRAMA)

A little on the East there is a decorative Golden Gate
built in the style of Italian Renaissance from 1612.
the Gate is decorated with figurines that symbol Peace,
Freedom, Wealth, Fame, Piety, Fairness and Harmony.
TOWN HALL (RATUSZ GŁOWNEGO
MIASTA)

At the end of Dluga Street there is a late - Renaissance
Town Hall built in 1330. the building attracts with
its beautiful 81 m high soaring tower. On the top of
the tower, there is a helmet with gilded statue of Sigismund
August from 1561. It is worth climbing up on a hill,
especially in the summer, from where spreads a great
view on Gdansk's Old Town. At the present in the Town
Hall there is a History of Gdansk Museum. This museum
is worth visiting even if for its wonderful Council
Room called also (a Red Room). The Council Room is an
example of Netherland mannerism.
ARTUS COURT (DWOR ARTUSA)

At the entrance to Dlugi Targ stands a Gothic tenement
from XIV c. This 10 m high residence is called The Artus
Court, is one of Gdansk's pearls with unsurpassed appearance
and even more gorgeous inside. From three preserved
in Europe ancient Artus Courts (in Gdansk, Riga and
Tallinn) the one in Gdansk is the oldest and the most
beautiful. The room with starry vault based on four
slender columns belongs to the most superb in Europe.
