Major foreign currency may be exchanged for zloty at airports, banks, larger hotels and border crossings in unlimited amounts. Throughout the entire country there are also numerous private currency exchange offices identified by the name 'kantor'. These exchange offices are usually open from 9am to 7pm on weekdays and until 2pm on Saturdays. Some are also open on Sundays. 24-hour services are usually available in larger major tourist centres such as train stations, border crossings and airports. Credit cards have become the most convenient option of getting local currency.

Travellers cheques

The best place to change travellers cheques is a bank (for a 1% to 2.5 % commission), because travelers' cheques are rarely accepted as payment for goods and services. Kantors don't accept them. You can also cash travelers' cheques in an American Express office, but there are only 2 in Warsaw ( in the Marriott Hotel or ul. Sienna 39).
